It is important to understand the difference between training and management. Training are behaviors that a dog learns and management is physically controling or restricting a dogs behavior through the use of a leash or crate. It is important that a dog is managed properly until the training take hold.
There are many common mistakes that people make when they first bring a puppy or even an older dog into their home the first day. We train you to understand the congnitive level of your dog and what behaviors and expectations are appropriate. Management is far more important for a puppy than training simply because they aren't developed to the point where training behaviors is developmentally appropriate. At this stage the training is geared much more towards the owner than the puppy.
We will meet in person to help train you on how to manage your dog, how much freedom is appropriate, how to introduce and use the crate, how to deal with issues like potty training, biting, and destructive behavior, leash training, and proper exercise and games that is appropriate for the age of the puppy. These services are $75/session and these sessions can vary in length depending on the needs of the owner, but typically last from 1 to 2 hours.
